Road work ahead signThe City of Columbus, the Ohio Department of Transportation and the Mid-Ohio Regional Planning Commission are collaborating to improve the intersection of Polaris Parkway and Orion Place.

Construction is scheduled for completion by late 2020, pending funding approval and agreeable weather conditions. Complete General Construction has been contracted to complete the project.

The nearly $20 million project encompasses Polaris Parkway between I-71 and Olde Worthington Road and Orion Place between County Line Road and 700 feet north of Polaris Parkway. Improvements will reduce traffic congestion, improve safety and upgrade pedestrian facilities, including:

  • Resurfacing
  • Adding turn lanes to Polaris Parkway and Orion Place
  • Curbs, gutters and sidewalks
  • Relocating stormwater facilities
  • Americans with Disabilities Act-compliant curb ramps
  • shared-use paths on the east side of Orion Place and the south side of Polaris Parkway
  • A roundabout at the Orion Place-Olde Worthington Road intersection
  • Upgrading traffic signals and poles, signage and crosswalk signals
